Duties

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on estate planning matters including wills, trusts, probate, and tax issues.
  • Draft, review, and edit estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated on estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Meet with clients to assess their estate planning needs, analyze their financial situations, and develop customized solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients to design comprehensive estate plans that protect their assets and fulfill their objectives.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, including probate court, when necessary.
  • Negotiate and draft settlement agreements, if applicable.
  • Manage a caseload while maintaining timely and high-quality service to clients.
  • Oversee the execution of estate planning documents.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives such as client seminars, workshops, and marketing efforts.
  • Ensure client confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance legal skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to manage cases and ensure efficient workflow.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of California.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning or a related area of law.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning procedures, laws, regulations, and tax implications.
  • Experience in trust administration, probate, will contests, conservatorships, and guardianship cases.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide tailored estate planning solutions for clients.
  • Proficiency in legal research databases, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
