Data Privacy & Compliance Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a skilled associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience in privacy and data security law. This role is ideal for a candidate with expertise in GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA, and a solid background in transactional matters. The attorney will be responsible for advising clients on compliance issues, drafting and negotiating privacy-related provisions, and managing legal projects. Duties:

• Provide legal counsel on privacy and data protection issues, including compliance with GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other relevant regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data security clauses in contracts, agreements, and policies.
• Collaborate with clients to conduct risk assessments and advise on data breach response strategies.
• Manage multiple legal matters concurrently, ensuring deadlines are met in a high-pressure environment.
• Conduct legal research on evolving privacy laws and regulations, offering strategic guidance to clients.
• Assist clients in developing and updating privacy policies and internal compliance programs.
• Clearly explain complex legal concepts to clients in a practical, understandable manner.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience practicing in data privacy, compliance, or transactional law.
• Proven experience in drafting privacy-related provisions and negotiating data protection agreements.
• Strong analytical and research skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear and concise legal writing.
• A team-oriented approach with a commitment to high-quality client service.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in the state where the attorney will be practicing.
• CIPP or other privacy-related certifications (preferred but not required).

• Knowledge of privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other U.S. and international regulations.
• Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex contracts, particularly in the privacy and data security sectors.
