The ideal candidate will have around five years of experience, bringing expertise in health law, data privacy, and security matters. The role requires a collaborative approach to working with internal teams and external clients, with a strong ability to handle privacy law compliance, data protection, and incident response, particularly in the healthcare industry.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal and state privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Provide expert counsel on data protection, management, and security, including understanding data flows and creating data maps.
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts, with a focus on privacy and data security provisions.
  • Lead incident response strategies and guidance following data breaches or other security incidents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to navigate complex legal and regulatory challenges in health law.

Requirements:

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in health law, with an emphasis on data privacy and security.
  • Proven ability to navigate federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience with data management, protection, and security, including technical understanding of data flows and maps.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with both legal and non-legal professionals.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts, particularly those with privacy and security elements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry practices and regulatory challenges is preferred.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Minnesota.
