Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an entry-level Associate Attorney to join its creditor's rights and foreclosure practice in Wayne, PA. This position provides a great opportunity to grow within a well-established firm, offering exposure to a variety of legal matters within the foreclosure and default servicing industry. The successful candidate will contribute to legal and compliance reviews, manage client interactions, and oversee non-attorney staff while developing subject matter expertise.

Duties:

  • Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Develop and share expertise with colleagues and clients, ensuring accurate and effective legal guidance.
    • Continuously enhance knowledge on legal issues relevant to foreclosure and creditor's rights in jurisdictions where the attorney is barred.
    • Research and review unfamiliar legal concepts to improve legal understanding and practice.
    • Collaborate with senior attorneys to ensure legal compliance and consistency across cases.
    • Respond to client and staff inquiries with timely, clear, and legally sound advice.
  • Legal Review Counsel (Document Proofer):

    • Review, verify, and ensure the quality and accuracy of legal documents to meet client expectations and legal requirements.
    • Correct documents as necessary to ensure compliance with local laws and client agreements.
    • Assist in monitoring attorney tasks to ensure timely completion of document reviews.
    • Provide guidance and escalate questions when issues exceed experience level.
  • Oversight and Collaboration:

    • Oversee, educate, and collaborate with staff members, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and client-specific requirements.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with internal team members and clients to facilitate smooth case progression.
    • Provide feedback to senior attorneys on file performance, client deadlines, and efficiency.
  • File Management:

    • Apply legal judgment and process knowledge to ensure files progress smoothly, meeting client and firm goals.
    • Develop strategies to move aged files forward, participating in discussions regarding delays and case reactivations.
    • Participate in workgroups and client meetings to discuss file progress and strategy.

Requirements:

  • Law degree (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the relevant state bar, with good standing status.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret and apply complex legal documents.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining high standards of legal quality and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound legal judgment.
  • No prior experience in foreclosure or creditor's rights is required, but a willingness to learn and adapt quickly is essential.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the relevant state bar and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal document management software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe/Nuance Power PDF or similar PDF editing software.
  • Comfort with new technologies and web-based legal tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
