Job Overview: A law firm specializing in energy law is seeking a motivated Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join their team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in energy regulatory matters, focusing on counseling, litigation, compliance, and transactional support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling and handle administrative litigation regarding market-based rates, market design, generation interconnection, and transmission issues.
  • Manage compliance and enforcement matters before regulatory bodies such as FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges, including conducting investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance work.
  • Offer transactional support for energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance and due diligence.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in Washington, DC (or eligibility for admission via waiver).
  • 3-6 years of direct experience in energy regulatory law, preferably focusing on the specified practice areas.
  • Familiarity with FERC regulations, energy markets, and relevant federal and state laws.
  • Experience in administrative litigation, compliance, and transactional matters within the energy sector is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
