Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Associate to join a top-ranked team. The firm offers extensive counsel to clients on employee benefits and executive compensation issues, including tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and more. Location: Columbus, OH  

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
  • Draft and analyze health and welfare plans, qualified retirement plans, and related documents.
  • Provide counsel on ERISA fiduciary responsibilities and compliance.
  • Support clients with the employee benefits aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through strategic legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to address complex legal issues and develop effective strategies.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proven ability to analyze and draft health and welfare plans, as well as qualified retirement plans.
  • Knowledge of ERISA fiduciary duties and compliance.
  • Experience with employee benefits in the context of M&A transactions.
  • Strong client relationship skills and the ability to manage client expectations.
  • A detail-oriented and analytical mindset.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employee benefits and executive compensation law
  • Proficiency in health and welfare plan analysis and drafting
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA and related compliance issues
