An established law firm in Orange, CA is seeking a Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their team. The role involves managing a caseload, interacting with clients, attending court hearings, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Location:

  • Orange, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
  • Handle post-conviction relief matters such as motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, and early termination of probation.
  • Attend motion hearings and advise clients on strategies following each hearing.
  • Manage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other attorneys in the firm.
  • Perform legal research, draft motions, interview clients, and manage court appearances.
  • Analyze case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents and provide legal analysis to clients regarding case benefits.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal assistants on post-conviction relief matters.

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law is preferred.
  • Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Experience with post-conviction relief processes.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload.
  • Experience in criminal law or immigration law is highly desirable.
