Job Title:
Associate Attorney 

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Cranford, NJ is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of mortgage and lending client cases, handling all aspects from assignment to resolution. Duties:

  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, notices of hearings, and orders.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on statutes, judicial decisions, and legal codes.

  • Update and maintain case management systems to ensure accuracy and data integrity.

  • Attend court appearances and client site visits as necessary.

  • Collaborate with clients and internal staff to ensure effective case management and resolution.

  • Identify key legal issues and escalate matters that require further review.

  • Prioritize and manage a high volume of case files while meeting critical deadlines.

  • Review and correct casework prepared by paralegals.

  • Participate in litigation hearings, settlement conferences, and oral arguments.

  • Maintain organization and efficiency in managing a diverse caseload.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active New York State Bar Admission in good standing.

  • Experience and knowledge of New York State law, including NYCPLR, RPAPL, and RPL.

  • Proven litigation skills in motions, opposition, replies, and oral arguments.

  • Experience in creditor’s rights, default, eviction, and/or bankruptcy, particularly in the mortgage services industry in New York is preferred.

  • Familiarity with client systems used in default services (Black Knight preferred).

  • Experience with electronic case management systems, especially CaseAware, is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.

  • Highly organized and able to handle a large volume of cases with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, etc.).

  • A valid Driver’s License.

Education:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar, active and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Litigation experience, particularly in motions, opposition, and depositions.

  • Knowledge of legal codes, court procedures, and client management systems.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to maintain focus and efficiency in high-pressure situations.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
