A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its Labor and Employment practice group. This position offers an opportunity to represent employers in a wide range of employment-related matters, including litigation, compliance, and training. The role involves advocating for clients in court and administrative proceedings, as well as advising on employment policies and labor negotiations.

Duties

  • Provide legal advice on labor and employment issues, including workplace policies, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, grievance arbitrations, and disputes under collective bargaining agreements.
  • Defend employers in state and federal courts in cases involving wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, retaliation, whistleblower cases, and restrictive covenants.
  • Assist employers in collective bargaining negotiations, mediation sessions, and arbitration proceedings related to labor agreements.
  • Handle unfair labor and improper practice cases before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB).
  • Represent municipal employers in Article 78 proceedings, including stays and arbitration award disputes.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for supervisors and employees on labor and human resource compliance topics.
  • Draft and present articles, policies, and updates on labor and employment law topics in newsletters, seminars, and webinars.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to handle labor and employment matters in litigation and advisory capacities.
  • Strong advocacy skills for courtroom and administrative proceedings.
  • Experience in handling municipal labor matters is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Admission to federal districts (NDNY, WDNY, SDNY, EDNY) is preferred but not required at the time of hire.
