A law firm in Midland is seeking an experienced Oil and Gas Title Attorney with subject matter expertise in oil and gas law. The successful candidate will conduct title examinations, draft title opinions, provide legal guidance on transactions, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

 

Duties:

  • Possess subject matter expertise in oil and gas law
  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties
  • Analyze relevant documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts
  • Draft title opinions highlighting ownership rights and any issues affecting property use
  • Conduct due diligence reviews for oil and gas transactions
  • Provide legal guidance on risks, liabilities, and mitigation strategies
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys if legal action is required
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration among team members
  • Meet quarterly billable hour requirements
  • Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities
  • Support other projects as assigned or dictated by business priorities

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with 1+ years of experience drafting title opinions covering lands in Texas
  • Familiarity preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships with tract and allocation factors
  • Previous work experience as landmen, in-house legal and compliance attorneys, oil and gas finance executives, or counsel at a state regulatory agency
  • Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
