Job Overview:
The Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of workers' compensation matters, including conducting legal research, preparing and filing legal documents, and representing clients in administrative hearings and trials. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver exceptional legal services, maintain client relationships, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and procedural requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases from inception through resolution.
  • Represent clients in workers' compensation hearings, trials, and appeals before administrative law judges and workers' compensation boards.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, discovery, and other court documents.
  • Advise clients on workers' compensation laws, rights, and obligations, ensuring compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Attend depositions, mediation sessions, and settlement conferences.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, ensuring favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Work closely with clients to develop case strategies and provide legal guidance throughout the litigation process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff on complex cases and legal strategies.
  • Stay informed about changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations, providing updates to clients and colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar (or eligibility to waive in).
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience handling workers' compensation cases.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, manage multiple cases simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
