Location:

Duties:

  • Provide transactional legal representation and advisory services to cities and other public agencies.
  • Serve as legal advisor to public bodies, such as planning commissions or other governmental boards.
  • Offer guidance on compliance with the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act.
  • Attend planning commission and other public meetings to provide legal counsel.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including development agreements and zoning laws.
  • Advise on land use, environmental regulation, and compliance with CEQA/NEPA.
  • Address issues related to election law, first amendment law, medical marijuana law, and fair housing regulations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience representing public agencies in transactional and advisory legal matters.
  • Experience as a legal advisor to planning commissions or other public bodies.
  • Expertise in compliance with the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act.
  • Ability to attend public meetings and provide legal counsel.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of municipal law, including land use, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
