Job Overview:

A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chemical and Life Sciences Associate Attorney with 2-3 years of experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in research, analysis, and writing, with hands-on experience in litigation, including depositions and motion practice. A background or interest in science is a significant advantage. This position offers immediate litigation experience, including research, writing and arguing motions, as well as preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, and the occasional trial.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex chemical and life sciences issues.
  • Draft and file legal motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Defend clients in depositions and other legal proceedings.
  • Participate in motion practice and argue motions in court.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Collaborate with clients, expert witnesses, and colleagues to develop case strategies.
  • Review and interpret scientific data and documents relevant to cases.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and changes in chemical and life sciences laws.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the California Bar, active and in good standing.
  • 2-3 years of relevant legal experience in litigation.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Experience in defending and taking depositions, motion practice, and brief writing.
  • Background or interest in science is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and motions.
  • Ability to defend and take depositions effectively.
  • Experience in motion practice and brief writing.
  • Familiarity with chemical and life sciences terminology and issues is preferred.
