Job Overview: A highly respected law firm in the New York City metropolitan area is seeking an experienced and dedicated Associate Attorney to join its legal team. This full-time position focuses on seeking justice for victims of child exploitation, online abuse, and related matters in federal courts across the United States. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of civil litigation experience and a passion for advocating on behalf of vulnerable individuals. This role involves working on complex, multi-district litigation cases and requires strong critical thinking and legal skills.

Duties:

  • Support the child exploitation team in federal court litigation, including cases involving child pornography and online abuse
  • Draft and argue briefs and motions in federal courts across the country
  • Handle sensitive cases with compassion and a deep understanding of the issues facing survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation
  • Manage and participate in complex multi-district litigation
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and participate in case strategy development
  • Work closely with clients, providing them with updates and guidance throughout the litigation process

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of state or federal civil litigation experience
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal matters with precision and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated passion for advocating for survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to handle emotionally charged and sensitive cases

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to practice law in New York

Skills:

  • Expertise in civil litigation, particularly in federal courts
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Ability to work on multi-district litigation and complex legal cases
  • High level of empathy and professionalism in handling sensitive client matters
