Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a highly skilled Labor & Employment Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join their team. The attorney will provide expert legal counsel and representation for both public and private entities on the Employer/Management side. The position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including counseling, policy development, contract review, litigation, and representation before administrative agencies. Experience with collective bargaining is a plus.

Location:

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive labor and employment legal advice and representation for public and private entities.
  • Offer counsel on various matters including employee relations, workplace policies, and contract development.
  • Represent clients in state and federal litigation, including courtroom experience.
  • Develop and review workplace policies and employee handbooks.
  • Assist clients with labor disputes and represent them before administrative agencies.
  • Conduct training sessions and offer preventative legal advice.
  • Engage in collective bargaining as needed.
  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with clients.
  • Participate in business development and client retention efforts.

Requirements:

  • Virginia state bar licensure (additional state bar licensure is a plus).
  • 5+ years of significant experience in labor and employment law.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Exceptional research and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in counseling and litigation, with state and federal courtroom exposure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the firm professionally.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans for new business generation and client relationship management.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar (or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia).
  • Additional state bar licensure is a plus.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in labor and employment law, including state and federal regulations.
