Job Overview:

This role is focused on providing high-quality legal counsel in patent prosecution and litigation within the fields of electrical engineering and software technologies. Ideal candidates will bring strong intellectual property experience, with a specific emphasis on drafting and prosecution, as well as a technical background in areas such as computer science, electrical engineering, or related disciplines.

Duties:

• Assist in patent prosecution and litigation, including drafting, filing, and managing patent applications
• Provide counsel on intellectual property issues related to electrical engineering and software technologies
• Engage in the preparation of legal opinions, including patentability, validity, and infringement analysis
• Participate in patent litigation matters, including discovery, motion practice, and trial support
• Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Stay updated on evolving patent law and technological advancements in relevant fields

Requirements:

• 2-6 years of relevant legal experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on patent prosecution and litigation
• Admitted to the USPTO
• Previous experience in networking, software, or wireless network technologies (3G/4G/5G) is preferred
• Design engineering experience, particularly with chip companies, is a plus
• Licensed to practice law in Virginia, or ability to become licensed promptly (California bar licensure is a bonus)
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field

Certifications:

• Active membership in the USPTO
• Admission to practice law in the state of Virginia (California Bar licensure is desirable)
