Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience handling a variety of patent prosecution tasks, including patent search and analysis, drafting and filing patent applications, and managing portfolios. Experience in industries such as mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices is a plus. While litigation experience is advantageous, it is not a requirement for this position.

Location:

  • Spartanburg, SC

Duties:

  • Handle patent prosecution for diverse industries
  • Perform patent searches and analysis
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic IP counsel to clients
  • Provide intellectual property guidance to clients in various industries
  • Optionally assist with patent litigation matters

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Familiarity with patent prosecution procedures and patent office protocols
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
