A law firm in Monroe, NC, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Law Associate Attorney. This role involves supporting senior attorneys with cases related to child custody, child support, divorce, domestic violence, and other sensitive family law issues. The ideal candidate is either a recent graduate who will sit for the July 2024 Bar Exam, someone planning to take the February 2025 Bar Exam, or an individual with less than 2 years of experience. Bilingual candidates in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior attorneys in managing cases involving child custody, child support, divorce, domestic violence, and related family law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare for and participate in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, provide updates, and offer legal advice.
  • Maintain case files and documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and empathy when dealing with clients in high-stress and emotional situations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to ensure the efficient handling of cases.

Requirements:

  • Licensed or will be licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar.
  • Demonstrates a strong passion for practicing family law.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in high-stress and emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while showing empathy to clients.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Completion of or planning to complete the North Carolina Bar Exam (July 2024 or February 2025).
