Job Overview:
A well-established Personal Injury Law firm in Columbia, SC is seeking a motivated Intake Attorney to manage the client intake process for civil claims. The Intake Attorney will be responsible for evaluating potential cases, providing preliminary legal guidance to potential clients, and determining case acceptance or referral. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive attorney who is passionate about helping clients and eager to make a direct impact on the firm's client intake process.

Location:

  • Columbia, SC

Duties:

  • Handle civil intake calls to evaluate potential claims for feasibility and value.
  • Provide preliminary legal guidance to potential clients and explain the firm’s services.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for potential clients as necessary.
  • Evaluate cases for firm representation or determine if they should be referred to the firm’s referral partners.
  • Leverage the firm’s referral network to send appropriate claims for prosecution.
  • Monitor the status of cases sent to referral partners.
  • Be available after hours and on weekends to take intake calls as needed.
  • Document and analyze case details, and conduct preliminary legal research as necessary.
  • Use Litify case management software to log, track, and manage client information during the intake process.
  • Collaborate with the New Client Specialists, Case Opening Coordinator, and Case Managers to ensure smooth transitions for new cases.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the intake process to enhance client satisfaction and efficiency.
  • Attend daily morning meetings and monthly “All Hands” firm meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active and in good standing with any state Bar Association.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and client management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce or Litify case management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle high call volumes.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service while evaluating claims in a high-pressure environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state Bar Association.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent client interaction and management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Litify.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate legal claims quickly and accurately.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
