A law firm in Miami, FL, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Patent Associate Attorney to join its intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience drafting and prosecuting US and international patent applications, primarily in mechanical arts, with exposure to electrical and software technologies.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute US and international patent applications in mechanical arts, with some involvement in electrical and software technologies.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Provide IP counseling to clients regarding patent portfolio development and strategy.
  • Collaborate with inventors, patent agents, and foreign associates.
  • Conduct patent due diligence for corporate transactions.

Requirements:

  • Superior academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • 2-4 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Admission to a State Bar (Florida Bar preferred).
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Experience with mechanical arts patents required; exposure to electrical and software technologies preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar (Florida preferred).
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
