Job Overview

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its national Employee Benefits practice as a Mid-Level Associate. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits law, ERISA, and related areas such as retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A-related issues. The firm is seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong legal and practical problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to clients.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on employee benefits law, including retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare benefits, and fringe benefits.
  • Advise clients on employee benefits issues in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and downsizing.
  • Simplify complex legal concepts into actionable, understandable advice for clients.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft memos, reports, and other written materials.
  • Work closely with clients, senior attorneys, and team members to develop effective solutions.
  • Assist with client presentations and relationship management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law and ERISA.
  • Proficiency in areas such as qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A-related benefits issues.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex legal matters in a straightforward, client-friendly manner.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work style, with an interest in dynamic legal environments.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the state.

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits law.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
