Job Overview: A forward-thinking law firm seeks an experienced Patent Attorney with expertise in 5G and wireless standards. This role will contribute immediately to a developing 5G standards practice, working directly with innovative technology clients and pioneering projects in telecommunications. This position emphasizes independent management of patent drafting, prosecution, and standards alignment, ideal for professionals looking to advance their careers in a supportive and agile environment.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications focused on 4G, 5G, and emerging 6G technologies.
  • Prepare claim charts mapping patent claims to 3GPP Communication Standards, ensuring precision and compliance.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand technical requirements and provide strategic IP protection.
  • Collaborate with a growing team, supporting new office initiatives and contributing to firm culture and practices.
  • Support ongoing development of a cutting-edge telecommunications IP practice.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of full-time experience in patent drafting and prosecution within the wireless standards space.
  • Proven expertise in technical submissions to the 3GPP Communication Standards Organization.
  • Experience preparing detailed claim charts that map claims to 3GPP standards.
  • Prior experience in Big Law is a plus but not mandatory.

Education:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active registration with the USPTO required.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of 4G, 5G, and 6G technology standards and telecommunications protocols.
  • Strong client engagement skills, with the ability to independently manage complex patent portfolios.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work remotely with discipline and maintain high productivity.
