Trial And Appellate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in New York City seeks a skilled Trial and Appellate Attorney to handle civil disputes, manage trial preparation, and counsel clients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in legal research, drafting persuasive documents, and navigating New York State Courts.

Duties:

• Monitor calendar, adhere to deadlines, and maintain an updated client database.
• Coordinate discovery and investigation efforts, maintaining open communication with clients on case progress and cost management.
• Draft pleadings, motion papers, memoranda, demands, and notices.
• Prepare thoroughly for trial, including comprehensive analysis and assembly of trial notebooks.
• Strategize and negotiate settlements of civil disputes when applicable.
• Ensure efficient capture of billable hours independently.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research as needed.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Admission to New York State Courts.
• Strong understanding of procedural rules and trial court practices.
• Proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools.
• 1-2 years of experience drafting motion papers or pleadings preferred.
• Internship or externship experience in a relevant legal setting is advantageous.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency with modern software and databases.
• Punctuality in work performance and attendance, including court appearances.
