Job Overview
A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Projects Development Lawyer to handle large-scale infrastructure projects, focusing on construction, procurement, and development. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of experience, with a strong background in project development within the renewable energy, energy transition, or oil & gas sectors. This position offers the chance to advise clients on complex transactions and risk allocation, particularly in high-profile, innovative projects.

  • San Antonio, Texas

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate key project agreements including EPC agreements, O&M agreements, equipment supply contracts, and PPAs.
  • Advise on risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures in large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide strategic legal and business advice in the areas of renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, and carbon capture.
  • Collaborate with leading developers, investors, and energy companies in complex project developments.
  • Manage complex transactions and offer guidance on project development in the energy transition sector.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in projects, construction, and development law.
  • Prior in-house experience at an energy company, developer, or infrastructure firm is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures in energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in renewable energy projects and energy transition technologies is preferred.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice with a commercial mindset.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in relevant state(s).

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating construction, procurement, and development agreements.
  • Solid understanding of energy and infrastructure project development.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, developers, and energy companies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical legal solutions.
