Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Bankruptcy and Debt Resolution Attorney to join their team. This position will focus on federal legal cases involving debt resolution, including the preparation and filing of legal documents, court appearances, and providing client support. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in bankruptcy law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage client cases with empathy and precision. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required to communicate effectively with clients and the court.

Duties:

  • Prepare, sign, and file legal documents related to debt resolution cases, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Represent clients at court hearings and 341 meetings, advocating for their rights and pursuing favorable outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis of client documents, including tax returns, pay stubs, payment plans, quotations, and contracts.
  • Provide empathetic support to clients by conducting interviews to assess their legal needs and identify viable case amendments.
  • Assist in managing case files, calendars, and case coordination to ensure smooth operations.
  • Demonstrate a results-oriented approach, aligning with the firm’s core values and driving meaningful progress for clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and the court in both English and Spanish.
  • Display resilience and patience when dealing with emotionally charged situations while maintaining professionalism.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience as an attorney, preferably in bankruptcy or debt resolution law.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Ability to prepare, sign, and file legal documents with high attention to detail and compliance.
  • Experience representing clients in court hearings, particularly in bankruptcy-related matters.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial documents relevant to debt resolution cases.
  • Excellent client service skills, demonstrating empathy and the ability to handle sensitive situations effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing case calendars and maintaining case files.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team setting and work closely with colleagues and clients.
  • Proactive communication and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico (USDC-PR and Puerto Rico State Courts).
