Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Wilmington, DE is looking for an Associate Attorney to join its growing Workers' Compensation Department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex litigation involving high-exposure workers' compensation claims, such as repetitive trauma, occupational disease, death, and hearing loss claims. Representing clients across a variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and more, the successful candidate will gain invaluable experience working under the mentorship of senior attorneys while developing the skills necessary to manage cases independently.

Duties:

  • Assist in litigating complex workers’ compensation cases, including those involving high-exposure and specialized claims.
  • Research and analyze legal issues related to workers' compensation, including repetitive trauma, occupational diseases, and fatalities.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, medical experts, opposing counsel, and judges.
  • Participate in client meetings, settlement negotiations, and hearings under the supervision of senior attorneys.
  • Prepare cases for trial and support senior attorneys during trial preparation and presentation.
  • Collaborate within a team-oriented, inclusive environment, fostering a proactive and innovative defense strategy for clients.

Requirements:

  • 0-4 years of litigation experience, preferably in workers’ compensation or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Motivated to learn, grow, and assume greater responsibilities over time.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the Delaware State Bar or eligibility for admission to the Delaware Bar.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in Delaware (or willingness to apply for admission).

Skills:

  • Strong research, legal writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage cases under the supervision of senior attorneys.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in case management and communication.
