Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Restructuring Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join its team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in large transactions with a major law firm and possess strong litigation and transactional skills. This role involves representing debtors, creditors, ad hoc committees, and asset acquirers in restructuring matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent debtors, creditors' committees, ad hoc committees, and asset acquirers in restructuring transactions.
  • Handle unsecured creditors' committees, restructuring support agreements, DIPs, reorganization plans, and exit facilities.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and briefs.
  • Navigate the Bankruptcy Code and Rules, providing practical and strategic advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to manage and execute large transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and strategic advice.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships and a high level of client service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of restructuring experience with a major law firm.
  • Extensive experience in representing debtors, creditors’ committees, ad hoc committees, and asset acquirers.
  • Strong academic credentials with a preference for candidates from top-tier law schools.
  • High proficiency in legal research, drafting pleadings, and briefs.
  • Transactional experience with a solid understanding of accounting and financial issues affecting restructuring transactions.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or Washington, D.C. Bar (or ability to waive in), as applicable.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or Washington, D.C. Bar (or ability to waive in).

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Rules.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting legal documents.
