Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience to join its Energy, Utility & Regulatory practice group. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in energy and utility law, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent writing, research, and interpersonal skills. This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic team and gain exposure to complex regulatory matters while providing high-quality legal services.

Location:

  • Albany, New York

Duties:

  • Assist in handling legal matters related to energy, utility, and regulatory law.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, legal briefs, and other documents.
  • Review and analyze regulatory matters and provide advice to clients.
  • Attend hearings and meetings with regulatory agencies.
  • Draft and file regulatory applications, petitions, and reports.
  • Provide support on utility and energy-related transactions and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and clients on legal strategies.
  • Manage client relationships and provide timely communication regarding case progress.

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • 2-4 years of experience, with a strong interest in energy, utility, and regulatory work.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (admission to New Jersey Bar is a plus).
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong professional judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and strong work ethic.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • New York State Bar (required).
  • Admission to New Jersey Bar (preferred, but not required).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of energy, utility, and regulatory law.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and draft clear, concise documents.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
