Duties

  • Draft and prepare both provisional and non-provisional patent applications and related prosecution documents
  • Review, analyze, and respond to office actions from the patent office
  • Draft reporting letters that summarize specific actions from the applicable patent office
  • Review and draft IP-related contractual documents, including licensing agreements
  • Advise on matters related to invention management and patent applications
  • Conduct legal, technical, and scientific research to support patent prosecution
  • Ensure compliance with USPTO rules and regulations for U.S. patent matters
  • Correspond with clients and foreign associates regarding patent applications and related issues

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing (preferred)
