Location:

Duties:

  • Advise public agency clients on general public agency law matters, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, California Public Records Act, Political Reform Act, Proposition 218, and election law.
  • Draft, review, and edit ordinances, resolutions, and contracts for public agencies.
  • Provide legal counsel on public agency bidding and procurement laws.
  • Represent clients in matters related to taxes, assessments, and fees under Proposition 218.
  • Research legal issues and provide comprehensive legal analyses to clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Attend meetings and provide legal advice during public agency hearings and discussions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters and provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure the timely resolution of legal issues.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to the California State Bar.
  • 2-5 years of experience in public agency law, with a focus on municipal and government law.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, and various types of contracts.
  • Knowledge of the Ralph M. Brown Act, the California Public Records Act, Political Reform Act, Proposition 218, and public agency bidding and procurement laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the California State Bar (Required).
