Job Overview

A law firm specializing in construction law and civil litigation is seeking a qualified Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with billable hours/time tracking. While experience in construction litigation is not required, it is considered a plus. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a collaborative environment while managing both transactional and litigation matters.

Duties

  • Manage both transactional and litigation matters related to construction law.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and review contracts and construction-related documents.
  • Prepare and enforce liens in construction-related cases.
  • Conduct formal discovery, depositions, and legal research.
  • Draft and argue motions in various legal proceedings.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and trials as required.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding construction-related matters.
  • Independently manage cases from inception through trial.

Requirements

  • Membership in good standing with the Florida Bar Association.
  • At least 2 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation.
  • Ability to commute to the office in Dunedin, FL (this is not a remote or hybrid position).
  • Ability to travel for court appearances, client meetings, site inspections, etc.
  • Strong analytical, grammatical, research, and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in construction litigation or familiarity with the construction industry is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual skills, especially in English/Spanish, are highly appreciated.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership with the Florida Bar.

  • Proficient in legal research and complex issue analysis.
  • Strong ability to draft and argue motions in legal proceedings.
  • Ability to manage discovery processes and conduct depositions effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
