A law firm seeks a dedicated civil rights associate to handle cases involving police excessive force and in-custody medical neglect for its Irvine office. The candidate will work on complex civil rights cases, managing discovery strategies, trial preparation, and legal research while ensuring that clients receive strong and effective representation.Duties:Manage civil rights cases related to police excessive force and in-custody medical neglect.Review police and investigative reports, medical records, and other pertinent documents.Develop discovery strategies, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, and other legal documents.Conduct thorough legal research and prepare legal memoranda.Draft and file motions, including motions to compel and motions in limine.Assist in trial preparation, including witness preparation, trial exhibits, and trial briefs.Stay current on civil rights law, case precedents, and legal trends.Collaborate with senior attorneys and provide input on case strategy.Requirements:Prior experience as a law associate or federal/appellate law clerk preferred.Federal litigation experience is highly desirable.Strong legal research and writing skills.Demonstrated ability to handle complex discovery and trial preparation.Knowledge of civil rights law, including police misconduct and in-custody neglect cases.Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet tight deadlines.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Licensed to practice law in the state of California, in good standing.Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong oral and written communication abilities.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, dental, and life insurance, subject to pay structure.
