A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Counsel – Labor and Employment to join its legal team based in Brookhaven, GA. This role supports the labor and employment legal function, providing guidance to various business units and partnering with Human Resources and management to address workplace legal matters. The position offers opportunities to develop and deliver training, engage in employment law counseling, and represent the company in mediation and legal proceedings.

Duties

  • Draft and prepare responses to allegations raised by investigative agencies, including Statements of Position.
  • Handle requests for additional information from government agencies.
  • Conduct internal investigations and prepare witnesses for fact-finding conferences.
  • Represent the organization at mediation and respond to litigation threats from external attorneys.
  • Negotiate settlements when required.
  • Identify employment law vulnerabilities and risks, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on employment law topics for management and employees.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on labor and employment matters.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to Human Resources and field personnel on compliance with labor laws and workplace policies.
  • Travel occasionally to attend meetings, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Perform additional tasks to support labor and employment legal services.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1-5 years of experience in labor and employment law preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
    • Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with enthusiasm.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
