Job Overview:

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Litigation Associate to join its Chicago office. The role will involve defending and litigating employment-related lawsuits, including those under the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). The ideal candidate will have experience with class actions and employment law issues, and will be responsible for representing employers in various legal forums, providing strategic advice, and assisting with compliance matters.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Defend and litigate lawsuits involving BIPA (Biometric Information Privacy Act).
  • Handle class action cases, with a strong preference for candidates with prior experience.
  • Advise, counsel, and train employers on employment and labor law issues.
  • Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, at mediations, and in arbitration on matters such as class/collective actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract disputes, employment torts, and non-compete cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment law or a related field.
  • Strong background in defending and litigating employment-related lawsuits, with preference for class action experience.
  • Understanding of state and federal agency procedures.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to providing high-quality legal services.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Current Illinois Bar admission or the ability to obtain admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, including class action and BIPA cases.
  • Strong litigation skills, with experience in handling matters before courts, agencies, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide clear, actionable legal counsel to employers.
  • Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
