Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Houston, TX is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Entry-Level Immigration Associate Attorney to join its expanding immigration practice. This opportunity is ideal for a newly admitted attorney with a passion for immigration law and a desire to advocate for clients facing complex legal challenges. The role offers hands-on experience in removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian applications, alongside a team of seasoned professionals. Duties:

• Provide legal consultation on immigration matters and advise clients on strategic case options

• Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals

• Prepare and file a variety of immigration petitions and applications, including family-based and humanitarian filings

• Visit detention facilities to conduct client intake interviews and assess case merits

• Collaborate with legal assistants and fellow attorneys to manage active caseloads efficiently

• Conduct thorough reviews of application materials and provide necessary revisions

• Educate community stakeholders and law enforcement on recent developments in immigration law

• Meet with prospective clients to evaluate eligibility and formulate legal strategies

• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews

• Draft and submit legal briefs and memoranda in support of immigration filings

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of immigration law experience (internships and clinics may be considered)

• Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously

• Comfortable with court representation and oral advocacy

• Familiarity with detained and non-detained immigration cases

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in any U.S. state or territory

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting

• Experience or familiarity with USCIS procedures and EOIR processes

• Proficiency with legal research and drafting briefs

• Preferred: bilingual fluency in English and Spanish

• Preferred: Experience using immigration case management software
