Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Real Estate Closing Attorney to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This role is centered around handling residential and new construction closing transactions while ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and client expectations. The ideal candidate will be an experienced North Carolina attorney familiar with the entire closing process, from contract review to executing closing ceremonies. A South Carolina license is preferred in addition to the required North Carolina license.

Duties:

  • Transaction Expertise & Table Signings:

    • Conduct table signings for residential and new construction transactions, adhering to legal and procedural standards
    • Ensure smooth execution of closing ceremonies, following firm and jurisdictional guidelines
  • Contract Drafting and Review:

    • Draft and review contracts, deeds, leases, and other legal documents related to real estate transactions
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all documents with the terms of the transaction
  • Financial Accuracy:

    • Review closing statements to verify accuracy of financial details
    • Confirm alignment with the terms of the transaction and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Loan Document Review:

    • Review loan documents and finalize closing packages for accuracy and legal compliance
    • Safeguard the legal and financial interests of clients during the transaction process
  • Legal Advice:

    • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding the implications of their transactions
    • Resolve any legal issues that may arise during the transaction
  • Title Insurance Expertise:

    • Ensure proper application of title insurance policies to protect clients from potential title defects
    • Advise clients on title-related risks and protections
  • Documentation Evaluation:

    • Evaluate property surveys, inspections, and other relevant documentation
    • Ensure all property-related information is understood and accounted for in legal decisions
  • Builder Title Review & Examination:

    • Conduct title examinations to identify any liens, encumbrances, or defects
    • Ensure the property has a clear and marketable title for clients
  • Business Development:

    • Develop strategies to attract new clients and expand the firm’s client base
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the real estate industry

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina (NC)
  • South Carolina (SC) license preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of the North Carolina closing process, including residential and new construction transactions
  • Experience in contract drafting, legal review, and table signings
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple transactions simultaneously

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (Required)
  • South Carolina Bar membership (Preferred but not required)
