A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Entry-Level Investigations Attorney to join their Criminal Defense Team. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and will be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role involves advising clients, attending hearings, managing court appearances, and conducting legal research.

Duties:

  • Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage a caseload of criminal defense cases.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents related to their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice following each hearing.
  • Handle court appearances, trials, draft motions, interview witnesses, and perform legal research.
  • Analyze case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents and legal research.
  • Manage case workload efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate case handling.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and strategies.
  • Accumulate additional evidence to support the client’s case or challenge prosecution charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions, develop case strategy goals, and gather supporting information from witnesses and experts.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in Criminal Defense law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internship experience.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar admission in California (or law graduates awaiting admission will be considered).
  • Demonstrated interest in Criminal Defense law through relevant law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.
