Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a midlevel Litigation Associate with extensive experience in ERISA litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting briefs, preparing court filings, conducting case law research, and managing all forms of discovery, including participation in depositions. This position is open to candidates with clerkship experience and strong law school academic credentials.

Location:

Duties:

  • Draft legal briefs, motions, and other court filings related to ERISA litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on case law relevant to ERISA.
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including document review, preparation for, and participation in depositions.
  • Assist senior attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and other litigation events.
  • Handle client communications and participate in client strategy meetings.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop case strategies and manage litigation processes.
  • Maintain and organize case files, documentation, and related legal materials.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in ERISA litigation.
  • Strong background in drafting legal briefs and court filings.
  • Experience with all forms of discovery, including depositions.
  • Law school academic credentials demonstrating strong performance.
  • Clerkship experience from a private law firm is preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation and communicate effectively with clients and team members.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (California preferred for Los Angeles office).

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of the jurisdiction in which the candidate will be practicing.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ERISA law and litigation processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
