Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution & Litigation Associate to join its Electrical Engineering & Software team. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, including wireless communication systems like 5G and 6G. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in electrical engineering or computer science, with experience in drafting and prosecuting patents. The role provides the opportunity to represent clients in both patent prosecution and litigation matters while working with a dynamic team in an evolving legal landscape.

Location:

  • Mountain View, CA

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical engineering, software, and computer science
  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters
  • Provide legal counsel on patent strategy and IP rights
  • Conduct patent searches and patent portfolio management
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions and engage with the USPTO
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical teams on client projects
  • Perform legal research and analysis on patent law and technology matters
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, understandable manner

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and litigation
  • Must be admitted to the USPTO
  • Experience in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical fields
  • Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus
  • Knowledge of wireless communication technologies (5G, 6G, 3GPP standards) is desirable but not required
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration required for both Associate and Patent Agent candidates
