Patent Agent - Electrical Engineering & Software

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, specializing in Electrical Engineering & Software. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and handle complex intellectual property matters, with a focus on drafting and prosecuting patents in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, and related disciplines.

Location:

• Irvine, CA

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical engineering, software, and computer science.
• Manage and resolve patent litigation matters.
• Advise clients on IP strategy, patent portfolio development, and protection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on patent prosecution and litigation matters.
• Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
• Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

• IP experience in patent prosecution and litigation.
• Background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
• Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus.
• Preference for expertise in networking, software, and wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G).
• Associates and Patent Agents must be admitted to the USPTO and have 2-6 years of relevant experience.
• All candidates must be a member of the USPTO.

Education:

• Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field).

Certifications:

• USPTO registration is required for all candidates.
