Job Overview: A law firm located in Southfield, MI is seeking a dedicated and experienced CFIUS and International Trade/Export Controls Associate Attorney to join their team. Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and representation on matters related to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and international trade regulations.
  • Counsel clients on compliance with U.S. export controls, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Analyze and interpret complex trade regulations and policies, providing strategic guidance to clients on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Prepare and file necessary documentation with governmental agencies related to CFIUS and export controls.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and proceedings before regulatory agencies and other relevant entities.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and risk assessments for international transactions and investments.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in trade regulations and policies to ensure clients remain compliant with evolving laws.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions on trade compliance and CFIUS-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm to provide comprehensive legal support and advice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission and active Bar membership in Michigan (MI).
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in international trade regulatory compliance and enforcement.
  • Proven experience with CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex regulatory issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
