Job Overview

A nationally recognized plaintiffs’ law firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Emeryville, California office. This role is ideal for an attorney passionate about representing individuals harmed by corporate misconduct, particularly in asbestos-related litigation. The position involves intensive case management, client contact, and courtroom experience. The firm provides an in-office, collaborative work environment focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for clients facing some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

Location

Duties

  • Handle a full caseload of asbestos and toxic tort litigation matters

  • Draft and respond to written discovery

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Draft and argue motions

  • Serve as second chair at trial and assist with all phases of trial preparation

  • Maintain regular, empathetic communication with clients and their families

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategy and achieve client goals

  • Travel regularly for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances

Requirements

  • Commitment to plaintiff-side litigation and advocating for injury victims

  • Willingness to travel frequently as required for case work

  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds

  • Prior experience in litigation tasks (e.g., discovery, motions, depositions) preferred but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the California State Bar (required)
