Senior Attorney needed for New York City office

Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Senior Attorney for its Defense Litigation practice in the firm’s New York City office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled litigators and handle a wide variety of defense litigation matters. The Senior Attorney will manage their own caseload, draft legal documents, take and defend depositions, provide strategic legal analysis, and appear in court when necessary. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with three days per week in the office.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of diverse litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Handle written discovery and respond to inquiries.
• Provide strategic legal analysis and counsel to clients.
• Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials as needed.
• Handle high-volume caseloads efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Collaborate with other attorneys to develop and execute litigation strategies.

Requirements

• Experience: 5-10 years of civil litigation experience.
• Licensing: Admitted to practice in New York; New Jersey admission is a plus.
• First chair civil jury trial experience is a plus.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: New York labor law, premises liability, and product liability (preferred).
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
• Strong written, research, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent academic credentials.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar is a plus.

Skills

• Strong litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Ability to take and defend depositions effectively.
• Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
• Excellent case management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines.
