Junior or Mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a motivated Junior or Mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials and demonstrate a keen interest in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments.

Duties:

• Draft complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Handle all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal as applicable.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft memoranda on various legal issues.
• Manage discovery processes, including document production, written discovery, and depositions.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Analyze insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, prepare coverage opinions, and conduct coverage analyses.
• Demonstrate exceptional writing and analytical skills, translating research into comprehensive written work products.
• Exhibit superior organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases efficiently.
• Utilize excellent interpersonal, networking, and business development skills.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• 2-6 years of litigation experience, preferably with exposure to insurance coverage litigation or a strong interest in this area.
• Admission to the District of Columbia Bar and be in good standing (or eligible to waive into DC pursuant to DC Court of Appeals Rule 49).
• Strong academic credentials and demonstrated success in legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience in federal district court or appellate clerkship is a plus.
• Ability to manage client relationships and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with emerging risks in insurance, environmental, and products liability underlying litigation is advantageous.
• Proficiency in case management software and legal research databases.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the District of Columbia Bar (or eligibility to waive in pursuant to DC Court of Appeals Rule 49).
