Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, specializing in chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. This position is based in Raleigh, NC, with a preference for candidates located in other southeastern offices. The role will involve handling complex patent prosecution and litigation tasks, including drafting patent applications, managing IP portfolios, and providing support to the legal team. Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech sectors.
• Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio management and patentability assessments.
• Collaborate with attorneys on patent litigation matters, including preparing discovery and claim charts.
• Review and analyze patent office actions and prepare responses.
• Support the legal team in various stages of patent prosecution and litigation processes.
• Conduct patent searches and provide opinions on patentability and infringement.
• Keep up-to-date with trends in patent law and technology developments.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in patent prosecution.
• Experience in IP, specifically patent prosecution and drafting.
• Strong background in chemical engineering or chemistry.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
• Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or PhD) are a plus.
