A law firm seeks a licensed attorney residing in West Virginia to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of substantive legal experience and hold an additional active license to practice in one or more of the following states: Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Virginia. We are looking for a dedicated professional who is energetic, independent, collaborative, and creative, bringing a determined mindset to their legal practice.

Duties:

  • Manage cases independently from inception through resolution.
  • Develop and execute effective strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for clients based on thorough case evaluations and ongoing investigations.
  • Engage in substantive communication with courts, administrative offices, financial institutions, and clients.
  • Draft various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments.
  • Attend hearings and trials as required.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Active license to practice law in West Virginia, with additional licenses in the specified states preferred.
  • Prior experience in one or more of these areas is preferred: Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Current membership in the West Virginia State Bar, with additional licensure preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a remote team.
  • High levels of energy, discipline, and self-motivation suitable for a home office environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive in problem-solving and legal analysis.
  • Confidence to take initiative and maintain accountability for case outcomes.
  • Proficiency in technology, including familiarity with Mac systems, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and timekeeping software.
