Job Overview:
A law firm specializing in construction law is seeking to hire a lateral Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in commercial litigation. This firm handles high-end, complex commercial litigation cases, and the role will involve representing clients in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and administrative proceedings. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing litigation and be comfortable handling various aspects of commercial litigation, including depositions, discovery, and mediations. Location:

  • San Antonio, TX 

Duties:

  • Evaluate, manage, and resolve claims/lawsuits.
  • Directly interact with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Draft formal claims for compensation on public procurement projects.
  • Manage litigation files, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct mediations and participate in trial preparation.
  • Represent clients in trials and arbitrations (first and second chair).
  • Prepare and negotiate construction contracts.
  • Prepare mechanic’s lien and payment bond claims.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • 2-5 years of commercial litigation experience, with a preference for complex cases.
  • Experience in managing litigation processes, including depositions, discovery, and motions.
  • First or second chair trial experience preferred but not required.
  • Construction litigation experience preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to live in or relocate to the San Antonio area.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.

Certifications:

  • Texas State Bar License.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Proficient in managing and resolving complex litigation.
  • Excellent communication skills for client and opposing counsel interactions.
  • Ability to draft and review legal documents, including claims and motions.
  • Experience with arbitration and mediation procedures.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
