Job Overview
A prestigious global law firm is seeking a Senior Projects Development Lawyer with 7+ years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development. The ideal candidate will have substantial expertise in renewable energy, energy transition, or oil & gas sectors. The role will involve managing large-scale infrastructure projects, advising on complex transactions, and providing strategic legal advice on risk allocation. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects in energy technologies such as renewable energy, hydrogen, energy storage, and carbon capture.

Location

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate key project documents, including EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) agreements, O&M (Operations and Maintenance) agreements, and PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements).
  • Advise clients on risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures within energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide legal and business strategy guidance on renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, carbon capture, and other energy transition projects.
  • Work on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects in the energy sector, including energy transition and renewable energy technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers, investors, and energy companies to navigate global regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in project development, construction, and procurement law.
  • Experience in-house at an energy company, developer, or infrastructure firm is preferred.
  • Expertise in risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures in the energy sector.
  • Strong background in renewable energy, energy transition technologies, and oil & gas sectors.
  • Excellent skills in drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving.
  • Strong academic credentials and the ability to provide strategic, business-oriented legal advice.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in the relevant state(s).

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating key agreements for projects, including EPC and O&M contracts.
  • In-depth understanding of risk management, financing, and insurance for energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide innovative legal and business solutions.
  • Collaborative team player with exceptional client management abilities.
