Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking an experienced litigation attorney with a minimum of 2 years of practice to join its team in Farmingdale, NY. This position involves representing municipalities and school districts in various civil litigation matters, including civil rights cases. The attorney will be expected to handle a wide range of legal issues including employment law, First Amendment rights, law enforcement matters, tort claims, and land use disputes. The role also involves providing litigation and corporate counseling services for non-municipal clients.

Duties:

• Defend municipalities and school districts in civil litigation cases, primarily focusing on civil rights matters.
• Handle cases involving employment law, First Amendment rights, law enforcement issues, tort claims, and land use litigation.
• Manage litigation for non-municipal clients, providing corporate counseling as needed.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
• Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and depositions.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to strategize and execute legal plans.
• Provide clients with legal advice and recommendations in various practice areas.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience in litigation, preferably in civil rights, employment, torts, or municipal law.
• Strong legal writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of legal procedures and court rules.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in New York State.
