Entry-level Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an Entry-level Criminal Defense Attorney for its Sacramento office. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly admitted attorney to gain valuable experience and develop a career within a well-established firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in criminal defense and be eager to collaborate with an experienced team. As an Entry-Level Attorney, you will manage a caseload, interact directly with clients, and receive mentorship from senior attorneys in a supportive environment.

Duties:

• Provide legal guidance to clients regarding their rights and assist in drafting legal documents related to their cases
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise them on the best strategies
• Manage court appearances, trials, motion drafting, witness interviews, and legal research
• Analyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedents
• Maintain an organized caseload and ensure deadlines are met
• Offer legal analysis to clients regarding possible outcomes and strategic decisions
• Gather and evaluate evidence to support the defense or challenge prosecution claims
• Prepare clients for depositions and assist in developing case strategies
• Work closely with witnesses and experts to strengthen client positions

Requirements:

• A Juris Doctorate (JD) degree
• Demonstrated interest in Criminal Defense law, gained through law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work
• A team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate and support colleagues
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
• Ability to move cases forward efficiently while managing a diverse caseload
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• California State Bar license in good standing
